Problems related to the protection of the rights of refugee children that societies, governments and international organisations face today, as well as possibilities and challenges for children presented by the digital environment will be the key topics of an international conference to be held in Tallinn on Friday, the 4^th of November.

Jürgen Ligi, Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs will open the conference, which is organised under  the Estonian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. Nils Muižnieks, Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights will be the keynote speaker at the opening of the event. Margus Tsahkna, Estonian Minister of Social Protection, will close the conference.

The conference will bring together a wide scope of practitioners, academics and experts from the Council of Europe, UNICEF and other organisations, as well as children’s ombudsmen, national and local authorities. They will share their experiences in tackling problems related to the migration crisis, including integration of children into new societies while being conscious of their background. The learning possibilities presented by the information and communication technologies and digital media, the role of schools and parents in the process, as well as the hidden risks of the “enchanted forest” of the Internet will be discussed in the second half of the event.
