Activists from 10 states attended online presentation of #LIBERATECRIMEA strategy

On 28 December, activists of #LIBERATECRIMEA civic movement presented the strategy that will guide the activities of the international solidarity and advocacy movement during the next five years. #LIBERATECRIMEA volunteers from 10 states, including Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Australia and Russia participated in the online presentation.

Aet Kukk, director of the Estonian Institute of Human Rights, delivered opening remarks, underscoring the need to continue human rights advocacy in relation to human rights violations committed in Crimea, despite the many obstacles and challenges. Oliver Loode, expert of the Estonian Institute of Human Rights, gave an overview of the 3-year history of the civic movement and presented the overarching values of the #LIBERATECRIMEA movement. Activists of the civic movement were greeted by Refat Chubarov, Chair of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people, who acknowledged the work to date and confirmed the compatibility of #LIBERATECRIMEA objectives and methods with the activities of the Mejlis. The presentation was moderated by Eskender Bariiev, head of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.
