Natallia Satsunkevich

"Viasna" Human Rights Centre
Belarus

Natallia Satsunkevich is a member of the Interim Board of the Viasna Human Rights Centre, one of the leading Belarusian human rights organisations whose founder, Ales Bialiatski, was awarded the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize. Her responsibilities include project coordination and fundraising (including crowdsourcing). She also focuses on team-building and combating professional burnout. As part of the legal assistance team, Natallia helps victims of human rights violations obtain redress. She works extensively to support families of political prisoners and, more generally, to bring an end to political repression in her country.

A biologist by training, Natallia started her human rights work by joining Viasna as a volunteer in 2015. Since then, she has amassed extensive experience in human rights monitoring, including the monitoring of court hearings, elections and assemblies, as well as authoring reports and recommendations. For her activism, Natallia is currently subjected to criminal prosecution in Belarus.
