In spring we cooperated with Master’s students of International Law and Human Rights at the University of Tartu. Students were acting as trainee teachers giving lessons on human rights in various schools in Tallinn, Tartu and Narva.
The Master’s program of International Law and Human Rights at Tartu University is studied in English bringing together students with extensive international background. Human rights lessons in different Estonian schools were taught by students from Estonia, Turkey, South-Korea and Georgia. The students were working as trainee teachers in those Estonian schools that have participated in Amnesty International’s program “Human Rights Friendly Schools”. A program which in Estonia has been conducted by the Estonian Institute of Human Rights.
Students used various educational materials on human rights for their lessons: the “Compass: Manual for Human Rights Education with Young People”, “Dealing with Controversial Issues at School” and “Developing Children’s Skills of Evaluation for Media and Social Media”.
